True Success for Al - Qaeda and Taliban in Pakistan: Lashkar-e-Taiba,
Jaish-e-Muhammad, Sipah-e-Sahaba, Lashkar-e-Jhangawi, all terror outfits enjoy
support of leaders and Ulema

In Pakistan today,
there seems to be a great hue and cry over the recent statement by the Emir of
Jamat-e-Islami Maulana Munawar Hassan saying that the Pakistani army troops
should not be considered martyrs because their contributions are supportive to
the army of disbelief i.e. the US and NATO troops. This evoked many to
condemn the JI, following a stern official statement issued by the army. On the
other hand, from Maulana Sami ul Haq, the rector of the Pakistani government’s
blue-eyed institution and the Taliban’s seminary Darul Uloom Jamia Haqqania to
the Jaish-e-Muhammad’s weekly Akhbar ul Qalam and the popular weekly organ of
the welfare organisation “Al-Rasheed Trust” Zarb-e-Momin, everyone is declaring
the supporters of the US and NATO troops kafir (infidel) and Mulhid (heretic)
singing praises for the killers of the young army troops of Pakistan. These are
the organizations and seminaries that Munawar Hassan has represented in his
statements that resulted into calls for ban on the Jamat-e-Islami. Surprisingly
enough, no one has noticed what is going on in Jamia Haqqania Akora Khatak,
Jamia Rashidia Karachi and Jamia Usman-o-Ali Bahawalpur, the religious
seminaries that not only issue such Fatwas but also give practical support to the
militants of Al Qaida and Taliban. Is there any way to propose ban on Pakistan
Muslim League Nawaz that has more than 50 such members in its assembly who
directly support Panjabi Taliban and other terror outfits? Many of
its members were allegedly involved in a number of the communal conflicts and
killings perpetrated by the terrorist organizations banned in Pakistan. The
same holds true of the Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf that issued its membership to
many people who were caught red-handed in sectarian wars and terror incidents
before they joined the party. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam’s case is no different,
while a large number of the Jamat-e-Islami’s people in positions of authority
had been, sometime, associated with Al-Qaida and Taliban. Even today, they exert
every possible effort to keep in touch with them by providing shelter and
facilitating things for their Jihadists, if not by participating in the
practical Jihad.

Hassan has not come up with anything new leading to the overall change of the
affairs. It is, actually, a national statement of Pakistan that cannot be
overlooked. If we follow the predominant Media and ongoing discussions of
Pakistani Television channels, we find that, barring those who have adopted an
apologetic attitude, an overwhelming majority of Pakistani common masses are
praising the Taliban and Al-Qaida and seeking to give religious justification
to the acts of terror prevailing in the country. By terming the attacks of
these terrorists as ‘reaction’, Pakistani politicians, intellectuals and
religious leaders tend to justify these ghastly attacks rather than condemn
them.
The reason why they
don’t intend to condemn them is that they are internally satisfied to see what
is happening to the Pakistani state and its institutions that have allied with
the evil forces. Therefore, they believe, they should be punished. Such people
with an increased propensity towards war-mongering try to link these attacks
with the conspiracies of America, India and Israel and get huge appreciation
from their followers. Some glaring examples of this bent of mind are our fiery
speaker General Mirza Aslam Beg and General Hameed Gul. People like them are
held in high esteem not because of their previous contributions or services to
society, but because of their present views and ambitions. While Aslam Beg
should be held accountable for the trafficking of nuclear parts, Hameed Gul
must be put into trial for the IJI and other charges. Oddly enough, none of
today's jihadists knows that Hameed Gul is the one who caused death to many of
their militants in the Jalalabad operation crashing down their wishes.
One should not
wonder at the recent statement of Maulana Munawar Hassan if he has a vivid
memory of the past. Nearly all Pakistani terrorist organizations, be it
Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Muhammad, Sipah-e-Sahaba, Lashkar-e-Jhangawi, Harkat
ul Jihad al-Islami ,Harkat ul Mujahideen or any other terror outfit practically
engaged in Pakistan with new names, enjoy open or tacit support of thousands of
leaders and Ulema. They have been standing by these organisations for almost
three decades and are now exerting every possible effort to back them up to
boost terrorism and terrorists in Pakistan. Haven’t we seen books being
published to pay tribute to the jihadist contributions and services the slain
Osama Bin Laden rendered in Pakistan? Last year, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed’s real
brother and the administrator of the organisation “Idara-e-Iqaz” Mr. Hamid
Kamaluddin published a book running into more than three hundred pages that
contained around hundred articles presenting Bin Laden as the greatest hero of
the Muslim world. This book was titled as “Shaheed-e-Millat”. Besides, every
day millions of students in religious seminaries spanning from Karachi to
Khyber are taught that that the slain Osama Bin Laden was the latest martyr of
Islam who laid down all his life and wealth and preferred living in caves to
enjoying worldly luxuries just for the sake of Jihad and for the glory of
Islam. The same treatment is meted out to Mullah Omar who, though lives in poor
condition, has severely hit the infidels. Similar texts are taught about
Pakistani Taliban and other sectarian forces that have been devastating
Pakistan and are killing its army soldiers and troops day in and day out.
It is an open
secret that the multitude of the Pakistani public pulse favours the Talibani
outlook for world and Pakistan. Not only the army establishment of Pakistan but
also its Mullahs, Jihadist authors and columnists and fiery speakers and
televangelists have played their part to create and imbibe this Talibani
worldview in the minds of common Pakistanis. Consequently, a common Pakistani
believes that every American individual engages every time in the Islamophobic
agendas. He assumes that no western citizen can rest in peace until he/she
causes great damage to Islam and Muslims. Similarly, to a common Pakistani, a
Hindu does not go about his daily business unless he hatches a heinous
conspiracy against Islam and Muslims. The very Talibani worldview led to Mullah
Fazl ur Rahman to state that even a dog killed at the hands of American troops
will be considered martyr.
They have developed
a worldview that considers America not a nation of different faiths and
ethnicities but a country of only infidels and enemies of Islam. According to
this worldview, western countries are just an abode of Islamophobes and nothing
else. Given this common perception, how can one differ from it in thought or
action? This is, actually, a catastrophic situation that has no quick remedy
nor can it be changed with ease. The extremist and confused minds have changed
the whole worldview of Pakistani people into their own narrow, retrogressive
and rigid dogmas. Although Al-Qaida and Taliban are not leading this battle
now, their triumph lies in the fact that millions of Pakistani people today are
in complete agreement with their ideology and have shared many values with
them. However, there are a few people in Pakistan who believe that one day
their political parties and leaders will get the nation out of this narrow
mindset. But for their kind information, political parties and their leaders
show generosity and give allowance to the terrorists to ensure the security of
their own families and properties. Obviously, it is impossible for them to curb
the terrorism.
