Unsung heroes and drummed up patriotism, Dr Shabir Choudhry

Unsung heroes and drummed up patriotism
Dr Shabir Choudhry    15 August 2018

On the occasion of 14th August 20178, one story went viral where a Pakistani army Major associated with ‘intelligence agency’ sacrificed his life for his country while fighting the terrorists. According to the story while we were sleeping comfortably in our beds this:

‘Major Ali from an Intelligence Agency, An Unsung Son of this soil was tracking terrorists in the hills of MALAKAND. He got their exact location and made an entry into their hideout along with his team. He had confirmed reports that terrorists have suicide jackets. On encountering the terrorists, without a pause or second thought he rushed to the terrorist and held one of them. His other team members did same with other terrorists present in the compound. Meanwhile another terrorist wearing suicide belt Blew himself up. And that was the END…. Now, what was the motivation of this officer which kept him going without even thinking about his young wife, two cute kids and elderly parents?? I am just unable to comprehend this factor’.

May Allah bless his soul. How ironic, perhaps the Major has lost his life while fighting ‘terrorists’ who were created, funded and trained by the Pakistani agencies that they could be used to advance agenda of the establishment, who think they have monopoly over wisdom and patriotism.

The story writer must have influenced many simple minds. May be that was his purpose. There are many in Pakistan who spread concocted stories to enhance status of Pakistani army and secret agencies. We also heard that during the war of 1965, men with green dress descended from the skies to help the Pakistani army. If it is true, that Almighty sent angels to help Pakistan, then one wonders why Pakistan lost the war?

However, the learned writer of this story forgot that every reader is not a fool. According to the story, Major Ali and his team attacked the secret hideout at night. Perhaps the writer didn’t know that:

1.   Suicide jacket is not a sleeping dress that you wear at night to sleep.

2.   The suicide jacket has many components, and are assembled together and is fixed on the body of the suicide bomber by an expert before he is sent on a mission.

3.   And when he is sent on his mission, he is supervised by someone else to ensure that he does not betray them.

4.   At the time when Major Ali attacked this secret hideout, was this suicide attacker dressed up with a suicide jacket on?

Come on man, you are spreading these stories in 2018, maybe, they worked in 1965, but not everyone is going to accept them in this day and age.

It must be pointed out that all nations, drum up patriotism in the people; and especially in their armed forces and secret agencies. Army and secret agencies of all countries receive highest level of training in various fields of warfare, information gathering and killing or neutralising opponents.

They are not forced to join secret agencies, in fact, some grease hands of their seniors to get admission to the elite agencies. They voluntarily join army and secret agencies; and when it comes to crunch, they kill, and sometimes get killed. They know what is involved at the time of joining. Some are recognised and honoured; others become unsung heroes. This happens in every country.

The point I am trying to make is that secret agencies and army of all countries make great sacrifices. They kill when they have to, and, at times they get killed too. The Pakistani secret agencies and army are not unique in this sense. However, the best secret agencies ensure that they appropriately protect their citizens and national interests.

Thinking people find it amusing when a country with highest number of bomb blasts, suicide attacks and killings of civilians and army, boldly claims that they have the best secret agency in the world. Furthermore, that they have the best army in the world, even though they have not won any war against their ‘traditional enemy’.

Jammu and Kashmir dispute

OK, let us agree that you are the number one secret agency; and Pakistani army is the best in the world. Why not test this in the field?

My struggle and struggle of my colleagues is to unite forcibly divided former Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir, and make it independent. Your mission is different, as you also occupy parts of Jammu and Kashmir state.

Many people think you don’t want to liberate Jammu and Kashmir occupied by India. You are more interested in water and other resources of Jammu and Kashmir. Some even think you are only bleeding India to keep the Indian troops occupied in Jammu and Kashmir.

If you want Jammu and Kashmir, then don’t only rely on proxies and blood of people of Jammu and Kashmir. Why not dispel all these rumours and order your brave and number one army to snatch Jammu and Kashmir from India?

If the entire Jammu and Kashmir is united under your command, then our battle will also become easier, as we will have to struggle against only one country.

I hope commanders of the brave army and the best secret agency won’t get angry on my suggestions; and will make sincere efforts to ‘liberate’ Jammu and Kashmir.
