United Kashmir People's National Party(UKPNP)
Demands of the people of Pakistani Occupied Jammu and Kashmir
Date: 13 May 2024
I take this opportunity to express my sincere sentiments in the prevailing
situation in the Pakistani Administered Jammu and Kashmir.
The people of this region have been denied their fundamental human rights
for many decades. Not only have we endured injustice, inequality and
oppression, but our natural resources have been systematically plundered.
This struggle of the Awami Action Committee was sincere and peaceful, it
wanted to promote and strengthen relations between Muzaffarabad and
Islamabad by ironing out those irritants that could be exploited by those
who wish to have instability in this strategic and disputed region.
The violence that erupted could have been avoided. We have always
opposed politics of violence, extremism, and intolerance and strongly
disapprove of tragic incidents that have taken place. All that could have
been avoided if the authorities had not sent Punjab Constabulary and
Frontier Constabulary.
These para-military forces of Pakistan are notorious for their inhuman
actions and ruthless behaviour. Their presence and actions did what petrol
does to the fire.
There are credible reports that para-military forces of Pakistan have been
called in again, and the purpose appears to be is to crush this movement
of the people.
We wish to point out that we fully endorse the peaceful struggle of the
Awami Action Committee and will support them because their struggle is
pro-people and pro-peace.
This exploitation, plundering and denial of fundamental rights to the people
of so-called Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan must not continue, and we
will not allow this to continue.
Also, we want to condemn the fake propaganda of some Pakistani
politicians, secret agencies, and media that the Awami Action Committee is
financed by foreign agencies.
We sincerely and strongly declare that this movement has no links with:
• India
• Taliban
• PTI
• Baloch Liberation Army or
• Jewish lobby
This Pakistani strategy of making allegations has lost its currency. No one
will believe this because the Pakistani agencies have accused nearly all the
politicians who disagreed with the establishment, including Madam Fatima
Jinnah, Benazir Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif, Wali Khan, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and
many more.
We demand that:
1. There must be a national grid in so-called Azad Kashmir. All the
electricity we produce should go there so that we can use our
electricity in accordance with our needs and not let our people suffer
at the mercy of WAPDA, a Pakistani institution, known as a white
elephant.
2. Any surplus electricity we have could be sold to Pakistan.
3. We must have control of our resources.
4. We must have control of water resources, and dams constructed
inside the territory of Azad Kashmir.
5. Act 74, which was unilaterally imposed upon us must be revoked, so
that we can manage our affairs in accordance with requirements and
priorities.
6. Both regions of Jammu and Kashmir State, namely Gilgit Baltistan
and the so-called Azad Kashmir must be merged as one
administrative unit so that we can have cordial relations with
Pakistan.
7. In addition to the above, we demand that there must be a National
Bank of Jammu and Kashmir so that we can manage our economy by
relying on our foreign exchange and other resources available to us,
instead of being controlled by Pakistan in every aspect of our social,
political, and economic life.
8. There are millions of Azad Kashmiri people working abroad and
Pakistan benefits from their foreign exchange, and sadly, Pakistan is
not prepared to build an airport for the comfort of these people.
9. We must have control of various properties belonging to the State of
Jammu and Kashmir, which are situated in Pakistan and Pakistan has
taken 100% profit of those properties. END
