JKLF calls for complete unity among nationalist parties

LONDON May 15 (NNI): Chairman Diplomatic Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Dr. Shabir Choudhry has underlined the need of complete unity among the nationalist parties of Kashmir.

In a statement issued here Sunday, the JKLF leader said the Kashmir struggle has entered a crucial phase. Therefore, all Kashmiri groups demanding freedom must unite on one platform.

He said various options are being discussed about the solution of Kashmir issue, but in his opinion there is only one option and that is making it a united and sovereign Kashmir.

JKLF, he reiterated, is struggling for the independent status of Jammu and Kashmir as it thinks that only this solution will bring durable peace and stability in South Asia.

The Kashmiri leader held the view that the issue of Kashmir cannot be solved through bilateral talks between India and Pakistan as it is not a border dispute, he maintained.

“It is the issue of a nation’s independence, its identity and its future”, he observed. So, he argued this issue cannot be resolve
bilaterally.

Shabir Choudhry while lauding the efforts of President Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this regard clarified that no decision can be imposed on the people of Kashmir through bilateral talks. As such he strongly advocated for including the Kashmiri leaders in all talks as they are the real party to the dispute.

In case they are excluded in the talks at any stage the outcome will meet the same fate as of Tashkent and Simla Agreement, he held the view.

He warned that any move to divide Kashmir will be resisted with full force. “It is laudable that all the parties of Kashmir have rejected the idea of the division of Kashmir,” Dr Shabir noted. NNI
